Subject: December 5 Potluck/November Minutes

Teacher potluck at Karen Street's house Tuesday, December 5, 7 P.M. RSVP
and let me know what you're bringing by e-mail or phone (510-526-1950). 
Address is 1721 Rose St.,Berkeley, on the corner of Carlotta, half-way
between M L King and Sacramento (Carlotta only goes north from Rose). Park
on Carlotta.

For both December and January, we'll be discussing
electricity/electromagnetism. Bring your labs and demonstrations. Also in
December: discussing, possibly creating, a hologram. Bring
information/equipment. Anything else?: add by e-mail, phone or in person.



Brief description of November events:
1) LBNL put on a top-flight open house, but only gave us a short time to
see everything. One group of us attended a couple lectures, visited the
Advanced Light Source, and learned about the programs in fusion (focusing a
beam for repeated collisions each second) and for geologists using seismic
techniques (putting a signal out from deep in one hole and receiving it in
another to study the in-between region). We agreed that next time we'd like
to spend more time visiting fewer programs, especially those none of knew
existed up on the hill.

2) November potluck. Those who attended the AAPT weekend events and the
LBNL Open House described what we saw to those who didn't. Again, good
food, good discussion.
