Dec 7 and 8 (Excerpt from PEN: May 1995, No. 2) Content-Type: text Content-Length: 1525 AAAS SEMINARS FOCUS ON FUNDING COMMUNITY-BASED YOUTH PROGRAMS The Science Linkages in the Community (SLIC) Institute at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will sponsor a series of seminars across the United States titled "Funding Community Science and Mathematics Programs to Target Youth Needs." The seminars are directed at community-based youth serving groups, churches, after-school groups, scout troops, big brother/big sister programs, parent programs, summer camps, and sports and recreation groups. Participants will learn hands-on science activities for children, receive valuable fundraising ideas, hear foundation officers speak on funding priorities for science education programs, and network with funders interested in community-based science initiatives. Meeting dates and locations are: Washington, DC, June 16 & 17 and June 18 & 19; St. Louis, MO, September 7 & 8; Dallas, TX, October 13 & 14; New Orleans, LA, November 16 & 17; San Francisco, CA, December 7 & 8.
