East Bay Physics Alliance _________________________ Berkeley, Sunday December 4, 1994 Hello Physics Folks, This is an unofficial test. We had a very stimulating Northern California Local Physics Alliance Workshop yesterday in Santa Rosa, featuring people from the National Science Foundation, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Physical Society and many other more local organizations. The Northern California group was divided into sub-groups serving several smaller areas, and you were listed as an actual or intended participant, with an email address under the Green "East Bay" group. Each of the people who attended the meeting has a complete list of phone numbers and work, home and email addresses for people in all Northern California sub-groups. This is an email to disseminate the information for our first "East Bay" meeting. Yesterday's meeting was heavily attended by "lab" people (people from colleges, universities and national laboratories) so our main goal is to reach K-12 physics teachers. This group of teachers is of course least likely to 1) have an email address and 2) use it regularly. Note that *no* East Bay Physics Alliance group leaders beyond yesterday's meeting were identified and that most of us are volunteering our time. The discussion leaders for the "East Bay" group meetings were: Karen Street Berkeley High 1721 Rose Street Berkeley, CA 94703 (510) 526-1950 and Moran, Michael J. There is an unofficial temporary page on World Wide Web with this email message. The address is, for the time being, http://design.lbl.gov/education/education-home.html. Keep in mind the first sentence of this message: please understand that there may be mistakes contained herein. Finally, there is no substitute for getting in touch with your friends, colleagues and local physics teachers. Invite them for the first meeting or find out what they are interested in. Happy Holidays! See you on January 9. Regards, Fred
